We Got Lucky This Time

Before I start, I have to acknowledge that when I say “we” got lucky, the “we” is most Americans, but certainly not “all”. The Trump administration was reckless and deadly to some folks. Police killings continued, mass shootings were only slowed down by the Coronavirus pandemic. Asylum-seekers at America’s southern border suffered horribly from unlawful detention, torture, rape and even death. My point here is that, as bad as it actually was, it could have been worse and worse could happen in the near future.
